ΑΓΙΟΣ ΜΑΡΙΝΟΣ - SAN MARINO

 ·        ΑΓΙΟΣ ΜΑΡΙΝΟΣ

·        Αφήνοντας πίσω μας το Ρίμινι και αρχίζοντας να ανεβαίνουμε τον όμορφο και σύγχρονο δρόμο που οδηγούσε στον Άγιο Μαρίνο, σκεφτόμουν πώς είναι δυνατόν να υπάρχουν τόσο μικροσκοπικά κράτη και μάλιστα να παραμένουν ανεξάρτητα για τόσους αιώνες! Η Γαληνοτάτη Δημοκρατία του Αγίου Μαρίνου, όπως είναι η επίσημη ονομασία του κράτους, είναι η παλαιότερη δημοκρατία στον κόσμο που επιζεί ακόμα!

·        Τρία μεγάλα φρούρια μας υποδέχονται καθώς και παλιές εκκλησίες. Μια ατμόσφαιρα μεσαιωνική κυριαρχεί παντού. Μικρά δρομάκια με όμορφα μαγαζιά, τα περισσότερα για τους τουρίστες φυσικά, με πλήθος καρτ ποστάλ, γραμματόσημα και σουβενίρ. Από την κορυφή του λόφου η θέα στην Αδριατική κόβει την ανάσα

·        Διαλέγουμε ένα παρκάκι με θέα στις εύφορες πεδιάδες της Emilia Romagna, και οι Ιταλοί φίλοι μας φέρνουν προσούτο, διάφορα τυριά και ελιές Καλαμών (τις βρίσκεις εύκολα στην Ιταλία)! Κάτι μου λείπει….το κοντινό μπακαλικάκι έχει στο ψυγείο του κρύες μπίρες. Διαλέγω δυο μπουκάλια Titanbrau…φυσικά την τοπική μπίρα του κρατιδίου! Τιτάνο ονομάζεται ο λόφος όπου βρίσκεται ο Άγιος Μαρίνος.

·        Οι μπίρες παρασκευάζονται από το Birrificio Artigianale Sammarinese, είναι εξαιρετικές και  μπορείς να καταλάβεις ότι έχουν γίνει με μεράκι. Παράγονται από το 2010. Βγαίνουν σε τέσσερις τύπους, ξανθιά, κόκκινη, weiss και amber.

·        Tα δύο μπουκάλια της φωτογραφίας είναι δώρο του Γιώργου Φραγκιουδάκη, μιας και όταν επισκέφτηκα την χώρα δεν είχα αρχίσει ακόμα να συλλέγω μπίρες! Ευχαριστώ Γιώργο!

·        SAN MARINO

·        Leaving Rimini behind us and starting to climb the beautiful and modern road that leads to San Marino, I was thinking of how such tiny states could exist, and to remain independent for so many centuries! The Most Serene Republic of San Marino, which is the official name of the state and is the oldest democracy in the world that still exists!

·        Three large fortresses welcome us as well as old churches. A  medieval atmosphere  dominates everywhere. Small alleys with beautiful shops, most for tourists of course, with a multitude of postcards, stamps and souvenirs. From the top of the hill, the view of  Adriatic Sea is breathtaking

·        We choose a small park overlooking the fertile plains of Emilia Romagna, and our Italian friends bring us prosciutto , a variety of cheese and Kalamata olives (you can easily find them in Italy)! I'm missing something ... the nearby minimarket has cold beers in its fridge. Naturally I choose two bottles of Titanbrau ...  the local beer of the state! Titan is the name of the hill where St. Marino is located.    The beers are brewed by Birrificio Artigianale Sammarinese, they are excellent and you can understand that they have been done with care. They have been produced since 2010. They come in four types, blonde, red, weiss and amber.

ΑΓΙΟΣ ΘΩΜΑΣ ΚΑΙ ΠΡΙΓΚΙΠΑΣ

Ένα από τα πιο άγνωστα κράτη του πλανήτη, που αποτελείται από δύο νησιά, τον Άγιο Θωμά και τον Πρίγκιπα,  βρίσκεται στον κόλπο της Γουινέας στην Δυτική Αφρική. Η νοητή γραμμή του Ισημερινού περνάει ακριβώς από κει δίνοντας μια άγρια τροπική ομορφιά. Χιλιόμετρα από ήσυχες παραλίες με καταγάλανα νερά στα παράλια και ένα απίστευτο ορεινό τοπίο στο εσωτερικό με πυκνά τροπικά δάση και καταρράκτες!

Παλιά πορτογαλική αποικία, το μικρότερο κράτος της Αφρικής σήμερα έχει μια πρωτόγονη οικονομία ( γεωργία, ψάρεμα) αλλά μια ανέμελη ζωή με γεύσεις που χαράζονται στη μνήμη. Τα ψάρια, ο καφές, τα φρούτα κι ανάμεσά τους μια μπίρα απλή αλλά άκρως απαραίτητη να συντροφεύσει τους κατοίκους στις ατέλειωτες συζητήσεις τους στα καφέ και τα ταβερνάκια του νησιού.

Είναι η θρυλική Creola, το απόλυτο φετίχ για κάθε συλλέκτη. Παρασκευάζεται από την Cervejeira Rosema, τη μοναδική ζυθοποιία του νησιού. Την απέκτησα από έναν Βραζιλιάνο ναυτικό μέσω Διαδικτύου και είναι ένα από τα πιο αγαπημένα κομμάτια της συλλογής μου!

                                                                                       SAO TOME AND PRENCIPE

 One of the most unknown countries on the planet, consisting of two islands, St. Thomas and the Prince, is located in Guinea's Bay in West Africa. Ecuador's imaginary line passes right thought  there giving a wild tropical beauty. Kilometers of tranquil beaches with crystal blue waters on the coast and an incredible mountain landscape inland with dense rain forests and waterfalls!

An old Portuguese colony, the smallest country of Africa today has a primitive economy (agriculture, fishing) but a carefree life with flavors which remain engraved in memory. The fish, the coffee, the fruits and also a beer which is  simple but very necessary to lubricate  the inhabitants in their endless discussions in the cafes and taverns of the island.

It's the legendary Creola, the ultimate fetish for every collector. Brewed by Cervejeira Rosema, the only brewery on the island. I got it from a Brazilian sailor via the Internet and it is one of my most favorite pieces of my collection! 

ΑΓΙΟΣ ΒΙΚΕΝΤΙΟΣ ΚΑΙ ΓΡΕΝΑΔΙΝΕΣ - SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES

Άγιος Βικέντιος και Γρεναδίνες

Λίγα χιλιόμετρα νοτιότερα απ’ την Αγία Λουκία βρίσκεται ένας άλλος εξωτικός παράδεισος, ο Άγιος Βικέντιος με τις Γρεναδίνες, 32 νησάκια ιδιαίτερα αγαπητά στους ιδιοκτήτες γιοτ καθώς και σε ροκ αστέρες που αρέσκονται να ξεχειμωνιάζουν εκεί στις υπερπολυτελείς βίλες τους! 

Οι παρθένες παραλίες, τα πολύχρωμα κοράλλια, τα χιλιάδες φοινικόδεντρα και οι χρωματιστοί πάγκοι με τα παράξενα φρούτα και λαχανικά θα σας κάνουν να νιώσετε ότι παίζετε σε ταινία! Αν σας φανεί ιδιαίτερα οικείο το περιβάλλον, μην φανταστείτε ότι έχετε ζήσει εκεί σε μια άλλη ζωή! Πιθανόν να αναγνωρίζετε τοπία από την ταινία ‘’Οι πειρατές της Καραϊβικής’’ που το μεγαλύτερο μέρος της γυρίστηκε εκεί!

Αν πετύχετε στο νησάκι Μυστίκ τον Μικ Τζάγκερ κεράστε τον μια Hairoun! Είναι η ντόπια μπίρα που βρίσκεται παντού και λατρεύεται από μόνιμους κατοίκους και τουρίστες!

H Hairoun παρασκευάζεται από την St. Vincent Brewery από το 1985. Συχνάζει στις παραλίες των νησιών, στα μπαράκια και τα εστιατόρια καθώς επίσης ανάβει το κέφι στο μεγάλο καρναβάλι του νησιού!

Το μπουκάλι της συλλογής αγοράστηκε από κάβα της Αγγλίας και ταξίδεψε οδικά μέχρι την Κρήτη.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

A few miles south of St. Lucia is another exotic paradise, Saint Vincent with the Grenadines, 32 islands particularly loved by yacht owners and rock stars who like to spend the winter in their luxurious villas!

The virgin beaches, multicolored corals, thousands of palm trees and colorful benches with strange fruits and vegetables will make you feel like you are in a movie! If these scenes seem  familiar to you, do not imagine that you have lived there in another life! You may recognize landscapes from the movie "The Pirates of the Caribbean" most of which was filmed there!

If you meet Mick Jagger in the island of Mustique – he has a house  there - treat him to a Hairoun! It is the local beer which is found everywhere and is loved by permanent residents and tourists alike!

Hairoun has been brewed by St. Vincent Brewery since 1985. You can find it on the beaches of the islands, the bars and the restaurants as well as the splendor of the big carnival on the island!

The bottle of the collection was purchased from an off licence in  England and traveled by road to Crete!

ΑΓΙΑ ΛΟΥΚΙΑ - SAINT LUCIA

Εκεί, στην καρδιά των Μικρών Αντιλλών, στη Νότια Καραϊβική, ένα παλιό κρησφύγετο πειρατών με ομορφιά τροπικού χολιγουντιανού τοπίου, μας κλείνει το μάτι φιλήδονα. Είναι η Αγία Λουκία που στο πανέρι της έχει αψεγάδιαστες παραλίες, φυτείες με μπανάνες και καρύδες και κομμάτια πυκνής ζούγκλας! Στα πόδια της ένας βυθός με σπηλιές, ορεινούς όγκους και γκρεμούς αβυσσαλέους!....και στο κεφάλι της τα δίδυμα όρη Γκραν και Πετί Πιτόν που στέκουν δίπλα δίπλα και δεσπόζουν στο τοπίο!                                                   

Στα τουριστικά θέρετρα των ακτών ξεπροβάλλουν φινετσάτα ξενοδοχεία και απ’ τα ειδυλλιακά εστιατόρια φθάνουν στα ρουθούνια μας μυρωδιές από κρεολέζικα πιάτα και στ’ αυτιά μας μουσικές Καλύψο και Ρέγγε. Και οι τυχεροί τουρίστες ξεδιψάνε με μια Piton Lager, την μπίρα σύμβολο του νησιού, με τα δυο βουνά στην ετικέτα της.

Η Piton lager παρασκευάζεται από την εταιρεία Windward & Leeward Brewing Limited που ανήκει στη Heineken! Παράγεται από το 1992 και είναι η αγαπημένη ντόπιων και τουριστών.

To μπουκάλι της συλλογής ταξίδεψε απ’ το νησί μέχρι τον Καναδά κι από εκεί, αφού αγοράστηκε διαδικτυακά, έφτασε μέχρι την Κρήτη!

There, in the heart of the Lesser Antilles, in the South Caribbean, an old pirates' hideaway with the beauty of a tropical Hollywood landscape, lures us with its charms. It is St. Lucia which is like a woman who has in her arms unblemished beaches,  banana  and  coconuts  plantations  and areas of dense jungle! At her feet are   caves, mountain ranges and steep cliffs! ... and at her head the twin mountains of Grand and Petit Pitton standing next to each other and dominating the landscape!

In the tourist resorts of the coast, elegant hotels are emerging and from the idyllic restaurants come the scents of Creole dishes and to our ears the music of  Kalypso and Reggae. Lucky tourists quench their thirst  with a Piton Lager, the beer symbol of the island, with the two mountains on its label.

Piton lager is manufactured by Windward & Leeward Brewing Limited owned by Heineken! It has been produced since 1992 and is the favorite  of  locals and tourists.

The bottle from my collection traveled from the island to Canada and from there, after being bought online, arrived in Crete!
